Although Louis Doyle entered the racing scene at relatively late (he was introduced to karting on his thirteenth birthday), he quickly illustrated the skill, commitment and dedication of a seasoned racer.
Louis spent the next few years time with the SPR Team was racing Junior Rotax with them, and eventually moved onto Junior X30 with his eye on eventually racing cars.
In 2017 Louis signed up for Renault UK’s exciting new Clio Cup Junior race championship for 14 to 17-year-old drivers.
Joining the JamSport Racing team Louis raced Renault Clios for the eight-round championship – all drivers were in equally matched cars that are near identical to those used in the senior UK Clio Cup. The only changes are they are limited to 100mph, have five gears instead of six and race on road tyres – Michelin’s high performance Pilot Sport 3 – as opposed to racing ‘slicks’.
Louis finished 7th at the end of the Championship, a fantastic achievement considering it was his first season racing cars.
At the start of 2018 Louis returned to the Clio Cup Junior race championship with the JamSport Racing team, however after just two rounds Louis opted to leave the Renault series to focus instead on his maiden season of MINI CHALLENGE racing, again as part of the JamSport Racing team.
Louis had this to says about the change…
“The Clios were good fun, but the JCW is just a huge step forward from that. Words cannot express how different it feels. The Clios are limited in power in Junior-spec, so the JCW has about 100bhp extra, slick tyres and phenomenal brakes. It will definitely be a learning process, but I’ve tested a few times already and love the car.”
